MoneyGram and MoneyGram Haas F1 Team Kick Off the Season in New York City

Five Takeaways from Money20/20 USA 2024

This week, MoneyGram and MoneyGram Haas F1 Team officially launched the 2025 Formula 1 season with a dynamic visit to New York City. Why? Well, what better place for the only American F1 team to kick off the season than in one of the most iconic American cities—alongside their American-based title partner, MoneyGram.

But even beyond that symbolism, there was a deeper reason behind this location choice. At MoneyGram, we pride ourselves on being customer-obsessed, and New York—a city known for its fast pace, global influence and cultural diversity—is a great reflection of the vibrant worldwide community that we serve every day by making cross-border transactions fast, seamless and reliable.

This year marks an exciting new chapter for MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, with the addition of two talented new drivers—Ollie Bearman and Esteban Ocon. Their visit to New York provided the perfect opportunity for our team to officially welcome and introduce them to MoneyGram.

During their time in the city, Ollie and Esteban filmed engaging MoneyGram content for the upcoming season and connected with media to share their excitement for 2025.

As it was each of their first times in the city, we also took some time to explore the “Big Apple,” visiting some iconic spots, creating special moments and setting the stage for an unforgettable year ahead.

Here are some highlights from the trip:

The World’s Most Famous Building

You can’t visit New York City without a trip to the Empire State Building!

Ollie and Esteban explored the Empire State Building’s interactive exhibits and took in the breathtaking views, learning some interesting facts along the way. One that particularly stood out for them was the astonishing speed of the building’s construction—just 410 days!

As they gazed out from 1,250 feet above the city, Ollie shared his favorite fun fact: Central Park is larger than Monaco, the nation that he calls home.

Shining Bright in Times Square

Many say that no trip to New York City is complete without a stop by Times Square, and Ollie and Esteban couldn’t agree more.

In fact, it was the one must-see destination on both of their lists. After grabbing a coffee—or matcha in Ollie’s case—they braced themselves for the bright lights and vibrant energy that define this iconic tourist destination.

A New York Slice… of Pizza!

Ollie and Esteban couldn’t pass up the chance to grab a classic New York slice—famous for its large, thin and foldable crust with a crisp yet chewy texture.

They stopped by Made in New York Pizza for a taste, and while Ollie typically prefers Neapolitan-style, he never turns down a chance for pizza… his favorite cheat meal.

As for Esteban? We’d say he’s a pretty big pizza fan too, as he also took the time to stop by the iconic Joe’s Pizza, which is famously featured in Spider-Man 2, one of his favorite Marvel films.

The 2025 Formula One Season Is Just Around the Corner

We had so much fun getting to know our new team drivers through this experience. As the countdown to the first race begins, we’re excited for the year ahead with MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, our drivers, and—most importantly—our incredible global community of fans and customers.
